Where do you go..

Well, my server’s back up, got a bunch of pictures up, email list to be
spewing shortly, and.. what else? Gotta plan out that road trip, any
ideas/comments/etc about where to go, what to do? I wanted to do up the
North Coast, ideally upto Vancouver, but the Del Norte Center Reunion is on
Oct. 9th & 10th up in Jed Smith, so that gives me like a week to go all the
way up and come all the way back to Del Norte County, so maybe I’ll just do
Seattle, or even less Portland. I would like to check out Vancouver
sometime, but..
maybe like my parents said, when I start going to school up there, I’ll have
more time for these adventures. They really didn’t like to hear about the
hitchhiking thing.
So yes! Any ideas for the area up 101 (or even the 5, though it sounds less
interesting and scenic) between Humboldt County (Arcata, Eureka) and
Vancouver would be spectacular! This will be a great test of my new log
too! Keen..

Welcome back, Ajay! The last email was great, your adventures sounded great, and I’m glad you’ve been doing the CCC thing.
You should detour east a bit from Arcata and check out the Trinity Alps before heading north. They’re awesome, beautiful alpine mountains with year-round alpine lakes and snow. Truly awesome at the peaks, and yet often warm enough to hike in shorts.
Also, check out Trinidad Head, which is on the coast just a little north of Arcata.
