That French guy (Floran? sp??) we met was right, and if I could do private entries w/ this, I might do that instead, because the intended entry.. well, I can’t even make sense of it now. Anywho..!
WOW! I continue on the line of thinking of my last entry now, the people are great, the country is beautiful. I was going to post an entry with
SUBJECT: STOP STALKING ME!
Because in Hue, it was true what LP says, they REALLY harass you. I don’t like being chased/harassed to buy things, I’m not that materialistic for one, and two, it’s just.. unpleasant! I’ve begun haggling though, and I think I’m getting better. I’ve also begun giving the people that peedle to me rediculously low offers, which usually manages to drive them away. I hope that’s not rude of me.
Well, it’s running late, but there are now a _lot_ of pictures on my Pix site (link at bottom) for your viewing pleasure! (The Vietnam ones will get sorted later, they gotta finish uploading first. Thank goodness higher speed internet is in Asia now!
Back in HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City) today, saw a museum, and the slightly disturbing, but very necessary, War Crimes Musem. Going to the Mekong Delta for a 3-day tour tomorrow, then Phu Quoc Island until Saturday, fly back here, then fly to Bangkok (19th), so I can fly to Bombay, so I can fly to Bangalore (20th), to check in w/ the family. I think I’m taking about 14 flights (different/change of airplanes) during this trip, which is about a month. (so if you were to average it out, it’d be once every 2 days.)
And BOY, is flying expensive. I don’t recommend flying all around due to the price, but if time is more of a concern than money… well.. yeah. I’m over my budget, which is too bad.
Here’s my brilliant travel idea though: Travel w/ traveller’s cheques (which generally get a higher exchange rate than cash and have protections) & cash, and use that as your budget for the trip. ATMs & Credit cards charge fees for usage, then exchange fees, etc etc.. it’s rediculous, at least 3%, maybe 6%, if one calculated it out, and most of the fees are hidden. (According to National Geographic. They’re included in the exchange rate since the CC companies got sued, so they hide them now.)
Anywho, ttfn! -@
