Ugh. Sorry for no updates, last time I tried the power went, off, which reduces my motivation a bit. If anybody is RSS’ing this, please tell me which feed works better! (ajay.rdf or ajay.xml)

Anywho.. it was my birthday yesterday, and so the teacher brought ‘queso de nuizas’ for us all, as a sort of cake. Literally translated, that means cheese of nuts, but I Don’t think it’s actual cheese, just a sort of desert. I haven’t eaten it the last time he gave it to us, but I was like, it’s my birthday, I should.
And I’ve been sick ever since! It was weird, started off with a headache+dizziness+stomach ache+fever, now the fever and headache are pretty much gone, but the stomach ache and dizziness? Not so much, especially not the first. Not really bad or anything, but weird. Supposedly, in this area (Parras, Coahuila) it takes 10 days to get sick from food/water, so potentially it’s not because of what I ate yesterday. (Though I usually don’t drink milk or eat much papaya normally, which is what I had for breakfast.)
And the thing I’m sure you’ll be glad to know (not! :) is that I’ve been having to go shit a lot, and they’ve been a lot of water. So I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong. Eventually I started wishing I’d just throw up (Vomitar), and a few hours after taking an ‘Airborne’ effervescent tablet in water, that’s exactly what I did. Didn’t seem to help. Later last night (again, my b-day ! :) I took a pepto bismol tablet.. which seemingly caused my second vomitar. Que raro. (How strange.)

Ah well. more below..

Well, not really. We have class from 4-7 everyday, and I tried to sit in class, but classrooms here are uncomfortable enough (With the heat and all especially), so I couldn’t do it, so I lied down on the grass outside and tried to hear as much as I could, of which I suceeded to small degree.
Eh! So that was too bad, especially since it was about heat, which is what we’re doing our project about, and is supposedly semi-difficult. Our project, btw, is the concept of making ice in the desert. (How perfect of a place! :) “Radiant Thermal Loss Refrigeration” is the name of the concept, and is an example of an appropriate technology (of course! Since that’s the class the project is for. :) So it sounds pretty awesome. A friend of mine, David Boyd, the director of the Redwood Coast Energy Authority, first told me about this crazy concept before I went to the woods (Backcountry) last summer. It would be an _EXTREMELY_ useful technology to have in the woods, instead of needing to sop (sp?) the meat of blood everyday, and worrying, throwing out meat on at least one occassion when people didn’t take care of it well enough.
Well, yeah. Huh.

So! The second reason it sucks is that my whole class went on a field trip, to the capital of the state we live in, today. Saltillo, Coahuila. It sounded kinda cool and fun, but I knew that even if I was feeling a little better (Which of course, in some ways I am), it wouldn’t be that great to take a long bus ride in the heat. I’m glad I made the right choice, but it still kinda sucks to be away from them.
The even suckier part is that there’s another field trip tomorrow, to Cuatrocienegas, some sort of amazing, posssibly semi-volcanic, lakes in the middle of this state. My professor has been dreaming of going there.. I think he said ever since he heard about it when he was 7. Isn’t that crazy?! And that’s not my professor which is from the area either!! Sounds pretty awesome. And remember, that’s a lake in the desert! Since here in Parras, it’s a desert oasis, suposedly that’s why it’s not killer hot. lakes in a desert.. I can’t get over that! I wish I knew what to do in case of illness, either of the tablets didn’t seem to help at all.
(The “homeopathic” one or the pharmaceutical)
My AT teacher says “boiled rice and vegetables” is good, I’ve been asking for it in a kind of soup. He says no fruits, except maybe papaya, because it has some of the same enzymes as rotting flesh. (Which helps me understand why I always think it reminds me of shit! More the texture than anything else I don’t like about papaya, but that’s just crazy, let me tell you! But.. yeah, I might try it, though I forget why he said no fruit.
And it’s weird, he said nothing acidic, which kinda makes sense, but whenever I was sick as a child, my parents would always have me drink 7-up. I can’t say that it didn’t work, but.. can’t quite remember!

My “mom” here is saying I should drink gatorade, I think she said because it will help replace what I lost.. (especially since i hadn’t really eaten anything since yesterday breakfast, though I had a late lunch of boilled carrots+rice+other+without flavor+onions) (it had potatoes too, but I got worried about eating them because AT Teacher (Lonny Grafman) said not to eat complex foods. Which confuses me about the rice, a bit.. they’re starches, complex, yes??)

Anywho, my stomach is not happy with me computing and sitting upright, so I’m outtie. i’ll check what ppl wrote on my facebook later.. ta! -@
